The author
Stephen Clarke
The secret is out: Stephen Clarke also wrote A Year
in the Merde under the pseudonym Paul West.
Stephen is a full-time journalist who specializes in travel
and music. He has also written comedy sketches for BBC radio,
gags for a stand-up comedian, and comic-book stories for the
legendary American illustrator Gilbert Shelton.
Beam Me Up is Stephen's first full-length novel, and
was inspired by a long-held belief that the world would be
a much safer place if its political leaders modelled themselves
either on female punk-rock singers or Star Trek's Captain
Kirk. Or preferably both.
